The foundational principle behind Utah Fits All is to provide parents with the ability to choose how their student is educated. Students receiving the scholarship are able to explore learning pathways and opportunities that the traditional public school system does not afford. The infinite creativity of parents and students makes it difficult to create a set list of approved expenses that is also easy to use and navigate. Please use this as a guide for your student’s spending, along with our pre-approved options on the Marketplace and the Ineligible Expense Guide.
When evaluating an expense, Odyssey applies a simple but important distinction: whether an item is inherently educational versus a general-purpose item that may be used in an educational context. While many general-purpose items can support learning, their primary design and typical use are not educational in nature. For this reason, the ability to use an item for learning does not, by itself, make it an eligible educational expense.
For more information on how to determine if an expense is Extracurricular, Physical Education, or Fine Arts Instruction, take a look at Examples of Extracurricular, Physical Education, and Fine Arts.
For a more detailed description of approved Physical Education expenses, please take a look at our Physical Education Spending Guidelines.
